Edward (Ted) Scheinman

Ted Scheinman is a senior editor at Smithsonian magazine, based in Washington, D.C. Before that, he worked as a senior editor for Pacific Standard magazine and has also edited for CNN and several weeklies. As an instructor and teaching fellow, he has taught courses on literature and journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a contributing editor at the Los Angeles Review of Books. He’s the author of Camp Austen: My Life as an Accidental Jane Austen Superfan (FSG Originals, 2018) and is currently at work on his second nonfiction book, for Scribner, about electroconvulsive therapy.
